CONTEMPORARY LED DESK LIGHTS AND SCULPTURAL LED CHANDELIERS
CONTEMPORARY LED DESK LIGHTS AND SCULPTURAL LED CHANDELIERS
We currently have four very special LED light designs in our Collection. The Nepenthe LED Chandelier, Alumega LED Pendant Light, Eucalyptus LED Sculptural Chandelier and the Nastrino LED Aluminium Desk Light. Although of strikingly different character - using electric circuit boards, razor sharp lines of aluminium, intricately hand-knitted LED light pods or sculptural leaves - these LED light designs perfectly capture the delicate nature of LED light and the tiny dimensions of LED bulbs. And the near future will undoubtedly see many more exciting new LED light designs added to the Within4Walls Collection.

PERFECT INTERIOR LIGHTING
Good lighting combines the very latest electro-technology with highly aesthetic product design. When done so with the right amount of ambition and sensitivity, the results can be nothing short of amazing.
Good lighting is so vitally important in interiors because it absolutely and completely determines mood and atmosphere. The last 20 years or so have seen a huge improvement in lighting technologies and today we have a vast choice of light types: halogen, LED, energy saving, fluorescent, incandescent, UV, solar, infra red, laser, fibre optics, you name it. Each type of light has its own cold, warm, bright or soft characteristics and the way in which designers use and marry these with their individual light designs is endlessly fascinating.
However, global warming, environmental destruction and unsustainable life styles are becoming more pressing issues by the day and of course at Within4Walls we are well aware of their importance.
Six years ago, we founded our company and with it our strong company ethos which tries to answer to these issues by maintaining a few simple core values:
• to defy cheap mass production - by offering made-to-order and made-to-last products.
• to defy cheap mass production - by offering made-to-order and made-to-last products.
• to nurture and protect our own highly talented and committed British European design and manufacturing industries, thereby guaranteeing top quality products and minimal transport issues.
• to favour the use of materials from sustainable sources as much as possible and thus minimising waste and environmental damage.
Quite a reasonable carbon footprint we would say.
The unique light designs in our Lighting Collection use a wide variety of bulbs, but most bulb fittings are suitable for use with all sorts of improved energy saving bulbs and the choice is yours. However, sad fact is that many so-called energy saving bulbs are not saving nearly as much as they claim to do. On top of that they are not particularly attractive to look at and often their bland and unpleasant light may ruin the character of many beautiful light designs and leave us disillusioned.

LED TECHNOLOGY
Although still very much in development, LED technology deserves a special mention.
LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) have several advantages over conventional incandescent lamps. LED bulbs don't have a filament that will burn out, so they last much longer. Their small plastic bulb makes them a lot more durable and they also fit more easily into modern electronic circuits. But the main advantage of LEDs is efficiency. In conventional incandescent bulbs, the light-production process involves generating a lot of heat as the filament must be warmed. Unless the lamp is used as a heater this is wasted energy because a huge portion of the available electricity isn't going toward producing visible light. LEDs generate very little heat, relatively speaking, and a much higher percentage of the electrical power is going directly to generating light, which cuts down on the electricity demands considerably. While LEDs may be more expensive than incandescent lights up front, their lower running cost can make them a better buy.
