Laser Sintered objects must be some of the most spectacular, fascinating and truly extraordinary products of our time.
Laser Sintering involves the fusion of tiny particles, powder resin in the case of SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) and liquid polymers for SLA (Stereolithography), by computer controlled laser beams. During this ultra high tech process, the object is built (printed) in minuscule layers - much like an inkjet printer deposits layers of ink on paper - until its 3-dimensional body emerges as one piece. The resulting light objects are absolutely unique and nothing short of mind-blowing, not only in the way they are designed and created, or because of the incredible beauty of their illuminated bodies and light display, but very much so because of what they represent: the unlimited potential of today's digital technologies, which transform the most complex virtual product concepts into actual 3-dimensional objects.
You can read more about the laser sintering process here.
The 3D-Printed interior objects you find at Within4Walls have been designed by various renowned designers from around the world and the majority so for two specialist design and manufacturing companies, MGX by Materialise and Freedom of Creation, with whom we have collaborated since our foundation.
The Collection's stunning laser sintered trays, vases, stools and benches, some of which are produced in Limited Editions, show to perfection the incredibly complex structures made possible by 3-dimensional printing.
