SIESTA ICON Lounge Chair by INGMAR RELLING
Part of the Within4Walls Collection since 2007
The handsome and supremely comfortable Siesta chair has celebrated its 40th anniversary. Designed by Ingmar Relling in 1964, the chair is an absolute icon of the Norwegian furniture industry and its most famous international price award winner.
Over time the chair has been adapted to changing styles and tastes, but in 2005, on the occasion of its anniversary, it has returned to its original design in true retro style. The name of the new "old" chair is Siesta Icon - simple, dynamic design with uncompromising quality, often imitated but never equalled. Right from the design phase, it was vitally important to Relling that the chair should be "environmentally correct". Optimum use of materials was considered at every stage and threatened species of tree have never been used for its production. The chair is very durable; replacement parts can be obtained and still be re-used after over 40-years of use – a re-circulating, highly sustainable product with a design which steadily increases its proven worth.
True to the original and very elaborate method of production, Siesta is made up of seven wooden components, canvas, chords and cushions. The handsome, aesthetic lines of the laminated, moulded woodwork give the chair its unmistaken sculptural character and provide not only tremendous strength but also high levels of deep, lasting comfort and support through the use of elasticity and resilience.
The outstanding quality aniline leather used for Icon's cushions comes from Scandinavian cattle with all the distinct features of the natural hide. The backrest comes in a choice of either ecru or black canvas and of course there is a matching footstool available for your ultimate bliss. Siesta is light in weight and packaging is kept compact in order to keep transport costs as low as possible. The chair will need only minimal assembly for which clear instructions are given.
And then all you need to do is sit down, lie back and relax!
