Minishakes.MGX is a scaled down version of Arik Levy's much bigger Handshake design originally inspired by a hand muff.
The design is a space within a space. Its double layer surfacing and the space in between allows Handshake to capture light from the outside and as it were become a light in itself without a source. When used with a lightbulb, the double layered object inverts its inner space and becomes diffuse on the outside. A special edition of Handshake, 58cm high, is on permanent display in the Centre Pompidou, Paris.
Handshake was first introduced in a limited edition, but Minishakes.MGX makes the design more affordable.
The spectacular Minishakes chandelier is available with 3, 5, 9, 16 or 25 small shades. Should you wish to mix and match large and small shades as well as the colours black and havannah brown, please contact us for a price quote.
